The Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills, and Training of British Columbia granted authorization to UCW, which was founded in 2004. University Canada West, UCW Canada provides graduate and undergraduate programs with several intakes all year round. For undergraduate programs, there are intakes in the fall (starting in September), spring (beginning in January), and summer (commencing in April and July). Similarly, for graduate programs, intakes are available in the fall (starting in September), spring (beginning in January), and summer (commencing in April and July).

Because UCW Canada has a rolling admissions policy, applications are evaluated as they come in, and applicants are informed of their acceptance status a few weeks after submitting them.
