Study at Bangor University in UK

As overseas education consultants, we have spent several years helping hundreds of Indian students pack their bags to go to the UK, and Bangor University has become a real favourite among our students. And it is not surprising, given the perfect combination of quality education, support, and a laid-back lifestyle that seems to be so much less stressful than the other universities in the big cities. Bangor, located on the stunning North Wales coastline with the mountains of Snowdonia and the sea right on your doorstep, offers the best of all worlds – the beautiful countryside to explore at the weekend, but London is only a few hours away by train when you need a bit of a big-city fix!

What really appeals to the Indian student about Bangor is that it is so affordable and seems so welcoming compared to many of the other options in the UK. The cost of living here is actually one of the lowest in the UK, so your outgoings for things like accommodation, food, and transport really do not break the bank, and it's usually around £700-£1,100 a month depending on your lifestyle choices. We guarantee accommodation for new international students right by the campus, so that's one big expense not to worry about. We're also a top university for student services and facilities, and we offer free English language support, writing help, visa advice, and even career services too. Many of our international students say that the tutors actually know their name and care about how they're getting on – the class sizes really are so much smaller.

Bangor has a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in subjects such as business, computer science, psychology, environmental sciences, law, and health, which are professionally accredited to enhance your CV. There is a post-study work visa available, which enables you to work in the UK for two years after graduating. There are strong industry links that will provide you with valuable internship experience. And, finally, the student union is very friendly, so you'll easily find your tribe if you're a cricket fan, a fan of Bollywood nights, or just a fan of chilling out with international students.

Bangor is a great option if you're an Indian student looking for a top-quality course in a top-quality university in the UK, but don't want to compete with hundreds of students or pay exorbitant fees like you would in a city like London. We've successfully settled dozens of Indian students in Bangor, helping them find part-time work and build a solid career. If you're considering studying in the UK, just send us your details, and we'll assess your profile to let you know if Bangor University is just what you need!

Bangor University Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programs Requirements

Years of placing Indian students in UK universities, we’ve worked closely with Bangor University in Wales for a long time. It’s a beautiful campus university with a strong reputation, especially among students who want quality education at a more affordable cost and a peaceful study environment.

Undergraduate Programs Requirements at Bangor  University

For undergraduate programs, Bangor is quite clear about Indian board requirements. Most Central and State Boards need a minimum of 65%. However, students from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh State Boards must score 85% or equivalent. If your marks are on the lower side, we often recommend their pathway programs through OIEG or BUIC. If those aren’t suitable or the risk is too high, we’re honest and suggest other options.

Postgraduate Programs Requirements at Bangor  University

At postgraduate level, they usually accept a 2:2 (50-55% or 6.0 GPA). They strictly do not accept third-class degrees. One important rule we always highlight: if you’ve already completed an MBA from India, you cannot join their general MBA programs like MBA Management, MBA International Business, or MBA International Marketing. But you can still apply for more specialised master’s courses. Also, if you have a study gap of 3 years or more, you’ll need to submit two recommendation letters, one academic and one from your employer.
In our experience, Bangor is student-friendly and realistic, but meeting their exact academic criteria makes the application process much smoother.

What are the entry requirements for undergraduate courses at Bangor University?

For most Indian students, you need at least 65% in your 12th standard from Central or State Boards. But if you studied under the Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, or Himachal Pradesh State Boards, the requirement jumps to 85%. Some engineering-related diplomas may also be considered. If your marks are a bit low, we often look at their pathway programs through Bangor University International College (BUIC) as a good stepping stone.
A minimum 2:2 degree (roughly 50-55% or 6.0 GPA) is usually enough for most master’s programs. They don’t accept third-class degrees. If you already have an MBA from India, you won’t be able to join their general MBA courses, but specialised master’s in areas like marketing or finance are often possible.
Yes – if you have a gap of 3 years or more after your last qualification, you’ll need to submit two recommendation letters: one from a previous teacher and one from an employer. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it’s something we always prepare for in applications.

Absolutely. The campus is beautiful, safe, and right by the sea with mountains around – very different from big city life. Fees are reasonable compared to many UK universities, accommodation is highly rated, and there’s good support for international students. Plus, the smaller class sizes mean you actually get to know your lecturers.
English proficiency is required for most students. However, if you scored 70% or above in English in 12th (except Punjab board), you may get an exemption. Otherwise, IELTS 6.0 (no band below 5.5) is the standard for most courses.
